The Creep Behind the Camera - Animated Sequence

This fun bit is an animated recreation of what "The Creeping Terror" was supposed to look like if screenwriter Alan Silliphant had had his way.  I had a good time recreating the 50s / 60s sci-fi movie "monster music" sound with deliberate nods to Bernard Herrmann and Akira Ifukube, two of my favorite composers.  The sound effects were fun to create too.
The Creep Behind the Camera - Girls on the Couch

This scene reflects exactly why Art J. Nelson was such a "creep," as his wife makes a shocking discovery in their living room.  The music is intended to create a feeling of dread and repulsion.  NOTE:  This scene contains some "PG13" level nudity.
The Creep Behind the Camera - Stealing the Creeping Terror

Behind the scenes intrigue on the set of "The Creeping Terror" as Jon Lackey - creator of the Creeping Terror monster suit - steals back his creation due to lack of payment.

Halcyon - Main Title

The main title theme from "Halcyon," a suspense thriller about two men trapped in an undersea research lab after an earthquake damages their station, injures one man severely, and cuts off all communication with the surface.  I wrote the music to reflect the loneliness and isolation of their predicament plus developed a driving motif for piano and strings to emphasize the relentless passage of time (their enemy, in this case).

Halcyon - Broken Scrubber

In this clip, Robert (Courtney Gains) tries to repair the broken oxygen scrubber on the undersea research station "Halcyon" while his friend Danny (Mykel Shannon Jenkins) moans in pain and distress.  The station was hit by an earthquake that heavily damaged the station and left Danny with a serious head wound.  Robert has to care for his critically injured friend while simultaneously trying to repair their heavily damaged station.  For this scene I used a steadily pulsating rythmic groove combined with high glass tones to convey the stress and pressure Robert feels as he tries to fix the scrubber while listening to his friend cry out in pain.

Halcyon - Sylvia's Theme

Sylvia's theme highlights Sylvia's delicate, fragile nature and also functions as a love theme for Sylvia and her husband Robert.

Halcyon - Message From Above

In this clip, Robert (Courtney Gains) sets up a camcorder so that his injured friend Danny (Mykel Shannon Jenkins) is able to watch video clips of his family.  I scored this simply for piano, synth and organ to express the longing Danny feels to be on the surface and with his family rather than trapped below the ocean with time and oxygen running out.
Panamorph

This is the intro web movie for Panamorph, a home theater company dedicated to bringing the movie theater experience home. To create associations with large scale films in the listener's mind, the cue here is deliberately reminiscent of Jurassic Park and 2001: A Space Odyssey,

Let Us Prey Teaser

This is a short teaser trailer I shot, directed and edited for a film in pre-production. Classic suspense music for a scene of a girl finding out there is someone else in the house with her, even though she is supposed to be alone.

"So Shall You Reap" Before and After Demo
Here is a scene from "So Shall You Reap." The sequence comes from the middle of the film, where the main character Denny is dreaming about guilt over the death of his wife and his obsession with the Grim Reaper. The before clip contains only dialogue and a rudimentary sound effects track (no music) The after clip is the exact same sequence with a music score that emphasizes the different emotions the character is experiencing while musically depicting his environment and the Grim Reaper's character.

There are six different musical themes / motifs in this sequence: the main "So Shall You Reap" theme, a falling fifth motif to indicate the dream state, a theme for the carnival ride, a gothic sounding string motif to indicate Denny's obsession with death, an atonal piece as Denny emerges on the lonely hilltop and finally, the theme for the Reaper himself.

Panamorph - Get The Picture
This is another Panamorph video, designed to mimic a movie trailer.  Again, a deliberate attempt is made to allude to the typical "Hollywood Sound," especially in the opening music.
